Attachment Parenting is becoming more widely practiced and talked about.  You may wonder what it is.  Click each title to read the article.

Knowing More to Do BetterWhat AP Is:  7 Baby B’s:  “Attachment parenting implies first opening your mind and heart to the individual needs of your baby, and eventually you will develop the wisdom on how to make on-the-spot decisions on what works best for both you and your baby.”

Attachment Parenting According to Sears:  Let’s delve a little deeper. I’m not going to interpret what Dr. Sears has said in order to fit my own style of parenting, merely lay it out in the simplest of words.

What is Attachment Parenting?: “Through attachment parenting, children learn to trust themselves, understand themselves, and eventually will be able to use their time as adults in a meaningful and creative way, rather than spending it in an attempt to deal with past childhood hurts, in a way that hurts themselves or others. If an adult has no need to deal with the past, he can live fully in the present.”

What are the benefits of  Attachment Parenting?   “These practises simply help to develop a close, empathic relationship with your child in order to better understand your child’s needs and feelings. Children are not seen as manipulators who must be controlled. Attachment parenting extends beyond the early infant period and involves a life-long desire to know your child and to parent in an understanding and nurturing way.”
