Last week, Sydney came downstairs and said “mommy, I want a new dress”. She is only 2.5 and had never asked us for anything before. So that afternoon she and I went shopping. It was one of the most wonderful afternoons I have ever had.
She held my hand and chatted with me while we walked to the store, and then I let her go. She looked at all of the clothing and commented on the colors and how the material felt.
She knew what she was looking for, and as I reached for things that were taller than her she told me either “yes” or “no”.
This is the dress that she settled on. I did not suggest shoes or the head piece, but did not even think of saying “no”.
She looks so beautiful- not because of the dress, but because she is so happy while wearing it.
I can see why she would be happy- it’s so cute.
