Smooches and Swimming: Simple Things Sunday

This week I captured more simple moments than I allow space to share them- now that’s a good week :)  Here are a few of them:

We were sitting on the front porch waiting for Kris to get home from work.  I sat in a chair behind Owen and Sydney and listened to them chat.  I only grabbed my camera because I wanted to remember how they like to sit and wait for Kris.  I was in the right place at the right time (with my camera) to capture something that-while fleeting- is frequent in our house:  Owen reaching for Sydney and saying “I love you Syd-Syd” before he gives her a kiss.  Melt. My. Heart.

We have been swimming several times already this year- not common here in New England!  On this day, Owen and Kris had left the pool and Sydney and I remained.  We chatted and swam and it was so quiet around us.  Birds chirped as the sun set.  It felt serene and beautiful.  Having those moments with just one of my children are so special.

You will see many, many photos of this dress.  It is Sydney’s new favorite.  This picture was taken in the late afternoon- that hour before dinner, but quiet.   Owen was on a chair in the back of our yard and Sydney sat and watched him.  She was chatting about something but I could not hear her.  She was so relaxed and this photograph of her sweet little ankles crossing is an image I wanted to remember- and the splash of color reminds me of how much happiness I felt.
