New Mother of Two

I will always look back affectionately on the time period that made me a new mother of two.

Even in those first days I was trying to figure out how to balance making sure my first-born still knew where he fit into the family with trying to keep my newborn, well…safe!  Owen was 26 months and Sydney was about five days old in this video.

As I watch this, I am reminded of how super-sweet this time period was.  Sydney came home from the hospital on Thanksgiving Day and it was a cozy and special holiday season for us.

What were your first days as mother (of one or multiple children)?  Tell us about it in the comments below!

  1. Oh my first days as a mother were a bit stressful..but to be honest I think they are what made my love for my son so much stronger. :) Between being born on 9/11, in the middle of Hurricane Ike, being locked down in the hospital with no family allowed, turns out my water had broken 4 weeks before so little man was also locked down in the NICU. Water damage to the house, living with my parents for two weeks, a tongue tie and depleting breast milk….
I can’t say I look back at those days with joy, but I can say I am beyond grateful for my little miracle man!

    • Wow, Amy! This is why mother’s are so very, very amazing. What a story you and that little miracle man have. Maybe it is not one you envisioned but it is remarkable nonetheless. I want to say “congratulations” or something for making it through such a crazy time, but I am at a loss. So I guess I just say “I acknowledge how difficult that time must have been and admire your strength for making it through.”

Thank you for coming by. I’m glad that you are here.

  2. Aw, I remember those early days. That does sound like a special holiday season.

By the way, the video’s marked as private. I thought I’d let you know because I want to see it. :)
